Aerosol Factory

Out of sight out of mind, but never the less extremely interesting. This 176,000 square foot factory sits hidden behind the trees in the heart of Milford's industrial district, adjacent to the once famous and now demolished Milford Jai Alai. Once inside this outrageously creepy building you are surrounded by amazing pieces of graffiti work and the irony of it all is that it used to be an aerosol factory... As seen in the video bellow you cant take 2 steps without running into a can of spray paint. Today the building sits as a canvas for "taggers" and the massive aerosol tanks sit intact. Out back you can even see the old train tracks that came through to the shipping and receiving building.
The building has been abandoned since the mid 1990's

Smiles Entertainment Center

Don't be fooled by the old signage "Smiles" is anything but. This once thriving entertainment center now looks like a scene out of Columbia Pictures feature film "Zombie Land". Complete with a Mini Golf Course, batting cage, full arcade and much more this true entertainment center was a staple in the community for over 35 years. In 2011 it's three decade run came to a halt when the economy was at an all time low, and just like that the family fun center was no more. It wasn't all fun and games here, the center has somewhat of a sinister past. In 2001 Smiles was host to a double stabbing where a party goer was stabbed three times, and most notable in 1994 when a gang battle erupted outside the center and a young boy was assaulted and others shot.

Update: Location demolished in 2015

Choate Boat House

You need two things to have a successful boating crew. A crew and well... Water. Choate's boating crew had both until 30 years ago when they lost their water. In the blink of an eye the dam that held Wallingford's  Community Lake together was breached resulting in the draining of the lake into the Quinnipiac River. The famous private school was left high and dry with no other options the abandoned their beloved lake house moving to the nearby town of Guilford.

Today Community Lake is still no more, after talks with the EPA of building a 25 Million dollar dam fell through.

Showcase Cinemas

Everyone has been to one and most people go all the time, Movie theaters have been round for generations. This particular cinema is ideal, dark theaters, no crying babies and no lines for the bathroom… Well it would be ideal if movies still played here. This theater located in southwestern New Haven County has been closed for almost a decade. Nature has already started to take its claim back on the parking lot and vines climb the walls. Soda fountains sit dry and projectors are on permanent standby.
